About Us
Our history, mission, and the place we call home.
Our History
Hijli High School was established in 1951, born from the collective vision of the Hijli Co-operative Society and a group of passionate local educationists. Set up under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, the school was originally founded to provide quality education to the children of IIT employees and families in the surrounding community.
Over 75 years, the school has grown from a modest beginning into a thriving institution serving nearly 2,000 students across classes 6 to 12. It stands as a testament to the enduring commitment of its founders to accessible, high-quality education in the heart of Kharagpur.
Our Mission
To provide inclusive, high-quality education that empowers every student with knowledge, values, and skills for a meaningful life — nurturing intellectual curiosity, character, and a sense of responsibility towards society.
Our Vision
To be a centre of excellence in secondary and higher secondary education, recognized for academic rigor, holistic development, and a deep connection to the heritage and aspirations of the Hijli community.
